Below are some examples
1. For the very young:
- Apple Tree Nursery in Hackney: Over a school year, Stephanie taught a weekly dance class to the children (2 – 5 years). These playful sessions combined basic movement skills with songs, rhythm games and stories. They were based around themes the children covered in their nursery.
2. For Primary School children and their teachers:
- Jubilee Primary School in Hackney / Creative Partnerships: In a 10 day residency Stephanie Schober created two short dance pieces with children in year 2 and year 3. The dances were developed around themes, the children were covering at the time: Pirates and the Ancient Greeks. The children read short stories in their literacy class and then Stephanie worked with these stories to create movements. Following on from the residency, Stephanie taught regular breakfast dance clubs to children (year 1 – year 6) over the past three years, resulting in performances at Hackney Dance Festival and Connect at Lillian Baylis Theatre.
- London Fields School in Hackney: Over 6 weeks, Stephanie collaborated with the school’s music teacher and class teachers to create a musical with year 5 children, incorporating dance, singing and acting. This was performed in the school and on various London platforms. In this time she also taught dance classes to year 2 and year 3 children, resulting in a performance as part of their nativity play.
- Primary Schools in Hackney and Tower Hamlets: Since 2002 Stephanie has been teaching regular dance classes during PE lessons or after school clubs at Betty Layward School, De Beauvoir School, Mandeville Primary School, Cayleigh Primary School and Triangle Pre-School.
3. For young people:
- Camberwell Choir School: Over a school year Stephanie taught regular dance lessons to teenagers, resulting in a public performance as part of Camberwell Arts Week.
4. For adults:
- Summer Workshop at Open University, Milton Keynes: Stephanie Schober taught a one-day practical dance workshop to a group of adults with varying degree of experience. The day started with a technique class, then the group learned a short extract from her recent choreography before progressing to creative tasks.
