Teaching is an integral part of Stephanie Schober & Dance Company's creative practice, developing alongside their own performances and learning and supported by the ongoing relationships with Laban and London Metropolitan University.
In 2003-04 Stephanie Schober was dance artist in residence at Laban, a leading education institute and performance venue for contemporary dance. In this time she created 'Inside us for 14 dancers' (2003-04) with their third year BA dance students drawing on her unique approach to explore the dancers individual expression through pure movement. The following year she was re-invited to create 'Solos for Two' (2004-05). Both works toured to regional colleges and venues throughout the year. 'Solos for Two' was also performed as part of the International Dance Exchange Ruhr alongside works by William Forsythe, Trisha Brown and Kim Brandstrupp at Pact Zollverein in Essen, Germany (December 2004) and at Laban Theatre as part of an exchange with BA dance students at Palucca Schule Dresden in Germany (February 2005).
The works each were created over an intensive rehearsal period of 5 weeks with the help of company dancers Laura Anderson and Katsura Isobe, who taught company class and assisted with the rehearsals. The students directly learned from their experiences building a bridge from the university to the professional practice. In November/ December 2005 Stephanie Schober will create a new work for Laban's final year students.
Stephanie Schober has previewed her works 'Inside Us' and 'Change' to the performing arts students at London Metropolitan University, followed by a post performance talk. New work will be previewed at the university in October 2005.
In February 2006 her company will tour to Chichester University College.
