TRAFFIC
Traffic takes its inspiration from the piano piece entitled “Abundant Numbers” by American composer Tom Johnson, who is renown for his minimalist music based on mathematical themes. Accordionist Camilla Barratt-Due and dancers Keir Patrick and Lise Manavit interpret the composition through their own movement and sound, using three accordions, chairs and a piece of glass played by hands. They explore the logical structure as a framework to share their materials and to negotiate and navigate their pathways and rhythms. The result is a myriad of fragmented human expressions leading to a sonic and visual chaos that falls back together into surprising new combinations.

“Traffic could have been another dry presentation of research process, were it not for the huge sense of fun that pervades the piece, and the performers’ unrelenting determination to bring the audience with them. This desire to engage and even to charm leads Traffic to a whole different place.” afternoon dust - dance blog
